As engineering students, it is mandatory you spend at least 16 weeks abroad during the course of your studies. You can choose to go on an internship or study abroad for a semester (you can also opt to do both). You will find all information related to international matters on this page. Grants are available to help you finance your study abroad program. The types of assistance and amounts vary depending on your chosen destination, the length of your stay, and your tax status. We recommend that you also check with your local county council, regional council, and the city hall in your parents’ place of residence, as they sometimes offer financial aid for studying abroad.

The following grants are available for academic mobilities: the Erasmus+ grant, the Aide Mobilité Internationale (AMI) grant, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region grant, and the Fonds de mobilité grant. Only the AMI grant can be combined with the others; it is awarded to students who are French government grant holders (CROUS student grant).

Inclusion and diversity are among the priority objectives of the Erasmus+ program. Support for inclusion is therefore offered as an additional supplement to applicants who meet at least one of the following criteria:

Raising awareness about climate change and the green transition is also one of the priorities of Erasmus+. As such, using eco-friendly transportation for mobility is rewarded with a financial incentive (calculated based on the distance traveled). More information here.

Completing an internship abroad allows you to combine professional development with international experience. The process is the same as in France; all you need to do is sign an internship agreement with a host organization located abroad. You can travel to any country of your choice, except for countries considered high-risk (list subject to change: please refer to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website).

The European Union and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region have established programs to help you finance your internship abroad. The financial assistance available may vary depending on the country where your host organization is located and your tax status.

To know more about available courses for exchange students at the Engineering school, please reach out directly to ensip.ri@univ-poitiers.fr. In the French education system, engineering programs begin at the three-year college degree level; therefore, we offer courses only at the three- to five-year college degree levels. We recommend B1 proficiency in both French and English to attend, though we do not request you sit a certification.

In order to come on exchange to our school, your university needs to have a signed agreement with us. Nominations need to be made through this form.

Administrative and Technical Staff (BIATSS)

Staff members can participate in short-term mobility programs at our European partner universities to foster exchange and collaboration. This is also an opportunity to learn how our European counterparts operate. These assignments last between 2 and 10 days, and financial assistance varies depending on the destination country and the length of the stay.

To apply, please contact the International Relations Office during the following periods:

– Departure in the first semester: notify us of your interest in mobility by mid-September

– Departure in the second semester: notify us of your interest in mobility by the end of December

Faculty Members and PhD Students

Under the Erasmus+ program, it is possible to undertake short-term teaching assignments throughout the European Union. These assignments last a minimum of 8 hours and average 5 days (excluding travel time). European funding is available depending on the destination country and the duration of the assignment. In addition to teaching, faculty members and doctoral students may participate in seminars or contribute to the development of research programs, depending on the needs of the assignment and the host university.
